Safeway is a US-based retail chain headquartered in Pleasanton, California, currently operating as a banner of Albertsons Companies. The history of Safeway dates back to 1915 when a local grocery store was founded by M.B. Skaggs in American Falls, Idaho. The next generation of the Skaggs family has begun an expansion of the original store into a supermarket chain, gradually conquering the West Coast. Nowadays, the company operates more than 1600 stores not only in the US, Canada, but also far overseas.
