The company was founded in 1924 as the Burlington Coat Factory, a women's coat, and raincoat factory, by Monroe Milstein and Henrietta Milstein. The company gradually began to sell sportswear, suits, shoes, accessories, children's clothing, and more. Burlington currently employs more than 40,000 people across all of its locations. It is the third largest discount retailer after TJX Companies and Ross Stores.
